Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Belgium, Margulan Baimukhan, participated in the conference titled “Supply Chains, Transport Corridors and EU-Turkiye relations: Towards Greater Connectivity”, organized by the Brussels Office of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkiye (TOBB), the European Neighbourhood Council (ENC), and the Economic Development Foundation (IKV), a non-governmental organization focused on Turkey-EU relations.

The event brought together heads of diplomatic missions from EU countries, Central Asia, and Turkiye, as well as representatives from the European Commission and leading experts on transport connectivity.

In his address, Ambassador Baimukhan emphasized the importance of establishing sustainable and efficient transport corridors in light of global challenges and disruptions in supply chains. He highlighted Kazakhstan’s active efforts to develop its transport infrastructure, including the modernization of the Aktau and Kuryk seaports and the expansion of railway connections with China and Central Asia. These initiatives, he noted, are expected to increase the throughput capacity of the country’s transport network to 37 million tons towards China and 20 million tons towards Central Asia in the near future.

The Ambassador also discussed the launch of a Coordination Platform earlier this year, aimed at advancing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) into a modern, multimodal corridor that ensures the shortest delivery times. He underlined that the success of the Middle Corridor relies on coordinated actions by all countries along the route.

“Kazakhstan aims not only to be a transit hub but also an active participant in global efforts to enhance the resilience and connectivity of international markets. We are ready for constructive dialogue and deeper cooperation with the European Union,” stated Ambassador Baimukhan.

The conference served as an important platform to explore collaborative efforts in creating more resilient supply chains and strengthening economic ties between the European Union, Central Asia, and Turkey. Kazakhstan reaffirmed its role as a strategic partner of the EU in advancing regional and global connectivity.
